About Rosalind

Rosalind has been teaching Pilates since qualifying with the world renowned Body Control Pilates Academy in 2004. After running a busy studio in Northamptonshire, she expanded her studies to incorporate both NLP and Mindfulness teacher training and the result is an effective, holistic approach to Classic mat Pilates. 
 
Her worldwide retreats and courses prove popular with all levels of participants, providing an opportunity to invest time in really feeling the benefits of this wonderful form of exercise in a safe and fun way. Rosalind provides variety to every Pilates class, believing that the results of connecting mind and body improves concentration, enhancing the flow, and making the class really enjoyable as well as effective
 
She has taught in a variety of venues across the world as well as being a regular tutor at Marlborough College and Sheffield University.
 
 
 
 

Daily programme

Please note this is a selection of possible activities and walks.  We will fine tune the exact itinerary depending on the weather / interests of the group and energies

 

Arrival day

Group transfer from the airport..... please contact us for recommended flights. This is a single timed transfer usually around 2pm for flights arriving at 1pm or earlier 

17.00h    Welcome to Mairena.  Short orientation walk round the village up to ancient threshing circles and lookout point.

19.30h   Welcome drinks and dinner at the Las Chimeneas restaurant

Meals will all be vegetarian using delicious local products, where possible from the Las Chimeneas organic farm.    We are happy to cater for any special dietary needs.

 

Day 1

08.30h   Morning pliates  (1.5 hours) at the Las Chimeneas village studio or at the mountain shala set in olive groves below the village.  

10.00h   Breakfast

14.00h  Light lunch

(optional)   Short walk to visit to ancient church of Jubar and original site of mosque and bronze age  shrine. Short talk on Alpujarran history and the legacy of the Moors

17.30h   Late afternoon pilates  (1.5 hours) – at Las Chimeneas with wonderful views across the valley and mountains 

19.30h   Dinner at the Las Chimeneas restaurant

 

Day Two 

08.30h  Morning pliates  (1.5 hours) at the Las Chimeneas village studio or at the mountain shala set in olive groves below the village.  

10.00h   Breakfast

14.00h   Light lunch

(optional)  Visit to the Mairena olive oil mill.  Learn how to make olive oil

17.30h  Late afternoon pilates  (1.5 hours) – at Las Chimeneas with wonderful views across the valley and mountains 

19.30h   Dinner at the Las Chimeneas restaurant

 

Day Three

08.30h   Breakfast

(Optional) Day trip to Granada and the palaces of the Alhambra and gardens

For those who would prefer a free day to relax by the pool there will also be the option to book a massage.

Day Four

08.30h   Morning pliates  (1.5 hours) at the Las Chimeneas village studio or at the mountain shala set in olive groves below the village.  

10.00h   Breakfast

14.00h   Light lunch

(Optional)   Short transfer to the high mountain pass of La Ragua.  Walk through the pine trees to a ridge with wonderful views across the Sierra Nevada peaks and Mulhacen – the highest peak in mainland Spain

17.30h   Late afternoon pilates  (1.5 hours) – at Las Chimeneas with wonderful views across the valley and mountains 

19.30h   Dinner at the Las Chimeneas restaurant

 

Day Five

08.30h   Morning pliates  (1.5 hours) at the Las Chimeneas village studio or at the mountain shala set in olive groves below the village.  

10.00h   Breakfast

14.00h Light lunch 

(Optional)   Cookery with the Las Chimeneas cook Conchi.  Learn how to make the best of Conchi's vegetarian food – eg gazpacho, ajo blanco – a cold almond soup,  aubergines with honey.

17.30h  Late afternoon pilates  (1.5 hours) – at Las Chimeneas with wonderful views across the valley and mountains 

19.30h   Dinner at the Las Chimeneas restaurant

 

Day Six

08.30h   Morning pliates  (1.5 hours) at the Las Chimeneas village studio or at the mountain shala set in olive groves below the village.  

10.00h   Breakfast

14.00h   Light lunch

(Optional)   Short transfer to the nearby village of Bayarcal.  Walk through a shady wood down to a valley with a snow melt stream and natural swimming pools.  

17.30h   Late afternoon pilates  (1.5 hours) – at Las Chimeneas with wonderful views across the valley and mountains 

19.30h   Dinner at the Las Chimeneas restaurant

 

Day 7

Transfer back to airport.

€1030   per single room at village cottage with own bathroom 

€930   per single room at village cottage where two rooms share one bathroom
